With a budget that exceeds 10,000 million euros over the next 10 years, the ITER Project to build a nuclear fusion reactor, is the second most expensive scientific programme ever launched, only surpassed by the International Space Station. Its objective is to obtain a clean, cheap and inexhaustible source of energy based on the joint effort of the main powers on the planet.

The engineering firm, Sener, has presented its innovative thermosolar technology projects at the World Future Energy Summit 2008, which took place in Abu Dhabi from 21 to 23 of January and is the most important exhibition of renewable energy systems worldwide. With three plants under construction and another eight projects in the pipeline, this Basque company is the world leading thermosolar energy enterprise.

The telecommunications company, G93 (a partner of Eiken) co-operated with the prestigious Race of Champions, an automobile competition held in London at the beginning of January and that was broadcast to the entire world with the titles and graphics by this Basque company. G93 has confirmed contracts to offer its specialised services at half a dozen international sporting events, including the Barcelona Formula One Grand Prix, the Moto GP Grand Prix and the Portugal and Catalonia rallies.

The Ministry of Energy and Water of Angola, through its National Water Department, has awarded Befesa, in partnership with the company Riogersa, the "Xangongo-Ondjiva drinking water production and supply system" for the southern part of the country, on the border with Namibia, for a total amount of 101 million dollars. Both projects will be financed by a credit line that the Angolan Ministry of Finance has with Deutsche Bank.

Representatives of the “Bilbao Atlantic Fruit Terminal- B.A.F.T.”, and UniportBilbao/Comunidad Portuaria have visited Fruit Logistica with a view to promoting BAFT’s facilities for the loading, unloading, storage and traceability of fresh fruit and vegetables among the exhibiting companies and visitors, as well as "door-to-door" maritime services offered by Bilbao maritime-port companies for the transport of the said products to Northern Europe (exports) and from Central and South America (import).
