Basque pharmaceutical company Faes Farma has reached a licensing agreement with Pfizer, the world’s leading biopharmaceutical company. Under the terms of this agreement, Pfizer obtains the rights to market Bilastina in Mexico, while Faes Farma retains the right to commercialise the product directly in Mexico, on co-marketing conditions.

The Bilastina licensing agreement with Pfizer is added to those Faes Farma has already signed with several other significant pharmaceutical companies, including Menarini Group (51 European countries), Vianex (Greece), Merck Serono (India), Hikma (North Africa and Middle East) and Yuhan (South Korea).

This means that Faes Farma continues its expansion through the international marketing of Bilastina, a highly selective anti-histaminic drug with an excellent safety profile, suitable for treating illnesses like allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria.

Bilastina was developed in-house by Faes Farma and is the leading light of its Respiratory division, one of the company’s preferred research fields. Termination of the clinical trials on Bilastina has boosted the Group’s outlicensing activity.
